LookS: The flapping Deco Dolls in 1920s glitz....at the Black Cotton Club!

Hellooo my darlings, I trust you are having a lovely diamond jubilee weekend despite the rain! As promised in part one, where I began celebrating with the Great Gatsby at Wilton's Music Hall, here is part two of my 1920s birthday do!

As I absolutely adore the 1920s, I decided to take my beautiful girlies on a full vintage twirl to celebrate my birthday with some good old fashioned dancing, and so we all transformed into glitzy Deco Dolls for a night of sizzling Jazz at the Black Cotton Club! I must admit that I was quite excited to be able to prepare two 1920s inspired looks for my birthday.....the first being the fun fringed Flapper girl look for the Great Gatsby play at Wilton's Music Hall (previous post: great-gatsby-fringed).......so the second had to be slightly more grown-up and reflective of the glamorous Art Deco times! Taking inspiration from my favourite details of the roaring 20s......such as beautiful beading, glamorous gems, illuminating pearl earrings, pretty scallop detail, daring low back and luxuriously delicate layers of chiffon.....I decided to build a modern interpretation of the decadent evening look worthy of a Downton Abbey drawing room under the grand crystal chandeliers. So in truly scandalous style, I set my heart on a mini-length navy blue ASOS shift dress with intricately beaded embellished bow detail across a scalloped edge in rich chiffon and a daringly low cut-out back. [For previous post on the 60s revival through the mini and the authentic midi length hemlines of the 1920s, click here: how-to-build-1920s-inspired-look] Of course the look was not complete without a dash of red lipstick, signature pin curled up-do, cute bow-patterned sheer stockings, gold beaded purse, low t-strapped shoes and statement Marcasite watch! With all details combined......viola.....my 1920s inspired glitzy Deco Doll look was born and I was ready to flap to the Black Cotton Club!

The Black Cotton Club is actually a monthly Vintage club night run at a burlesque venue called Volupte Lounge in the midst of London city, with a prohibition era underground done-up speakeasy feel and well embraced by vintage lovers. From those who wish to dress up vintage to go back in time for the night, to those who aced the Charleston as well as the Lindy Hop in their love of 1920s Jazz.......it is a genuine vintage night worthy of a capital letter "V" crown! So as we simply flapped the night away to some hot Jazz, we were mesmerized by the style time warp of decades gone by and watched in awe as vintage lovers took the dance floor in a storm!

Thanks to all my beautifully glitz-ed up girlies, we had a fun evening of chatter and dancing! So that was another year of my vintage birthday do....and there are more birthdays, nights out and weddings set to come! But for now I am content with a cup of tea and time to watch the Union Jack colours flap in the wind as drizzle passes by my window this royal diamond jubilee weekend......have a sweetly fabulous jubilee week my darlings!

Until the next time,
May xx
