Irresistibly sweet because its life...and there is no take two!

Greetings my darlings! I am safely back from a weekend in Edinburgh celebrating my good friend Sophia's wedding....of course more to come about that event in the following post! But first I would like to thank the lovely Wendy from the ~Butterfly Balcony~ for passing on the "Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award" to me!! As part of the rules, acceptance of this award means that I will have to reveal 7 random facts about myself......so by the end of this post you might come to the conclusion that I am utterly barmy (ie. mad)! That could well be possible, as I tend to live with the idea that life might not give second chances!

Anyway...here's the 7 random facts about me:
1. When people ask me where I am from, I either ask them 'what do you mean?' or I would reply along the lines of 'that is not an easy question to answer!' My ancestors may have been from China a long time ago, but they were from a minority tribe called the Hakka, and my parents were born in Malaysia, but I was born in the UK....so perhaps I am from BriMaChiHak?
2. But my background has given me a love and appreciation of languages as well as cultures. As a result I love to travel and can speak English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka, Malay....and am now taking a French beginner's course to learn a new tongue!
3. I am utterly in love with the Egg Tart and find them irresistible! (It can be found in Dim Sum or Chinese bakeries and the form resembles a custard or Portugese tart, but it tastes much sweeter and silkier!)
Pink embroidery & lace short Qi Pao (Chinese New Year 2011)
4. My other weakness would be the Qi Pao! I have a love of dresses, but I find the Qi Pao so irresistible that I have started collecting them as though they are precious gems!!
5. My hair only goes under the scissors twice a year...and with quite a bit of reluctance as I almost always end up missing my hair afterwards!
6. Even with black hair and eyes....I am actually allergic to the black dye colour pigment (aka PPD), which is why my eyeliner and mascara is usually brown or some other colour like purple or blue. But as I love colour and vibrancy it has become a plus rather than a negative!
7. I am an Amy Winehouse fan! As I absolutely adore her unique but powerfully beautiful voice....hence the mini eyeliner flick, although I am yet to attempt a proper and full bee hive!

And now.....for some catching up on what I have been up to recently! On Sunday 23 October 2011, I made a trip down to Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair in Bethnal Green with my friend Amancay! It was partly a treasure hunt for great vintage finds I will need for the vintage short film I have been working on with Amancay....and partly because I like collecting vintage ideas and finds! So what did I see at the vintage fair?
Oh my.....there are far too many lovely things to bring home!!

Lovely black suede heels with gold rose motifs...but they are not my size!

Yummy....tea and cakes anyone?

What a lovely hat collection!!
All in all it was a good treasure hunting day! As for the film.....I am excited to report that we already have a script, our team is coming into form and I am currently looking for some great filming locations. It will be even more exciting when we start creating the vintage looks and film in some glorious looking places.....after all the short film does need to be fit for an international film festival! So watch this space for more updates on the vintage short film....as well as the story on my Asos Marketplace photoshoot and my lovely adventure in Edinburgh!

Until the next time,
May xx
