London HOT-SPOTS: The Great Gatsby.....at the amazing Wilton's Music Hall!

My fringed 1920s Flapper Girl look!
Many apologies my lovely darlings for this delay in my usual posts! It has been a little hectic with my birthday celebrations, helping out with a short film shoot and travelling to Nice for work last week! So without further ado, let us catch up first with my birthday celebrations...part one! As some of you darlings may know I have a soft spot for the 1920s, so as a Birthday treat I jumped at the chance to see the brilliant sold-out adaptation of 'The Great Gatsby' at Wilton's Music Hall (London), and indeed it was a true 1920s affair that did not disappoint!

Walking down from Tower Hill Station amidst the busy bridge and river backdrop in the city of London, we finally found a little walkway that is Graces Alley, led from an unsuspectingly bland looking quiet residential road. As soon as we stepped beyond the flaking rust-red paint on the exterior walls, we were greeted by a beautiful hostess clad in fur, pearls, fringe and feathers within the crumbling building of the world's oldest surviving Music Hall dating before 1743....we have truly arrived back in the 1920s at Wilton's Music Hall! Even in its state of needing great repairs, Wilton's Music Hall is absolutely beautiful down to every single rusty gold pillar, and provided the perfect setting for a 1920s glitz! The play was delightfully surprising with the actors bursting out with Jazz ditties and flapping around in grand costumes....creative, clear and grippingly easy to follow even if you have never read The Great Gatsby! I became more convinced about Daisy's helpless need for luxury as she darted across the stage throughout the play in her finery, and of course Gatsby's unconditionally reckless love for her. The interval was decorated with dances in the upper floor bar and the mingling chatter of guests with red-striped straws resembling candy canes in their drinks. As guest were invited to dress up to the 1920s, of course I went prepared in a simple black fringed dress, some low strapped shoes, feathered chandelier earrings and a gem-stone looking comb neatly framing some Pin Curls......though I did forget my faux fur and pearls when I was running late for the short film shoot earlier that morning! With any worries melting away as soon I stepped into the 1920s, Wilton's Music Hall charmed me with her magical quality and definitely gets a brilliant 5 ♥♥♥♥♥ out of 5 lovely hearts rating from me!

All in all it was a great way to celebrate my Birthday, and I would highly recommend both The Great Gatsby production as well as the humbly beautiful Wilton's Music Hall....which is an absolute gem of London in itself and definitely worth a visit! Still to come....more on the 1920s with my Birthday do at the Black Cotton Club night and other recent ramblings of life! Have a fabulous rest of the week my darlings and thank you so much for all your wonderful comments!

Until the next time,
May xx
